Hi.

Namecheap tried to kill my website and, with it, my joy and my dreams. Luckily, I was able to afford the hefty ransom of $1.16 (USD by the way) and got the domain back. I'm pretty sure there will be no longstanding negative side effects from this.

I was very worried there for a second that I wouldn't be able to get the site up in time for Halloween. The next text-based experience is my largest and most ambitious yet. You will get to play it tomorrow (Halloween).

As punishment for trying to KILL and MURDER my site and me, I will NOT be writing about Cyberpunk 2077 EVER, Namecheap. You hear me? NEVER.

Last week, before my website was taking hostage by terrorists (Namecheap), I was going to talk about Minecraft, another non-horror game that I am very frigthened by.

I've never been super into Minecraft. I really liked the Herobrine creepypasta when that was first circulating, but at that time I didn't even own the game. It wasn't even until about 2015 that I even owned the PC version of Minecraft because a friend sent me a code for a copy. Since then, I'd estimate that I have probably only ever put in around 200 hours into the game. Even that estimate feels generous.

Part of it might just be that I played it too late into its cultural relevancy for me to really get hooked on it. Part of it is probably because I'm not really in the loop about any updates it gets, so everytime I play it feels like it is an entirely different game than what I know. Most of it, though, is because I find it very frightening.

I'm not really sure why it scares me so bad. It could very well be that my first real introduction to the game was through urban legends about it being haunted by the ghost of Notch's dead brother, but I think it mostly comes down to how empty and lonely it feels. I always feel like there's someone watching me while I play. The inclusion of randomly generated structures like abandoned mineshafts really doesn't help with that feeling either. I also don't like hearing monster sounds when I can't see the monsters, but that's not necessarily a Minecraft thing. That freaks me out in any video game.

I'm not really a fan of horror, so take what I say with a grain of salt, but I feel like Minecraft could've easily been turned into a horror game had they so chosen.

That's all, really.
